Overview of the “Rebirth of Ukraine – Westland 2024” Trade Mission to the Netherlands

The "Rebirth of Ukraine - Westland 2024" trade mission, held in the Netherlands, became an important platform for developing Ukrainian-Dutch business partnership, establishing international cooperation and presenting the potential of Ukrainian business on the European market.

ALLE FOOD UA participated in the trade mission and joined the international dialogue aimed at expanding trade links, finding new partners and creating opportunities for the further development of Ukrainian business.

Key Areas and Mission Overview

The trade mission lasted five days and included business meetings, presentations, company visits, a thematic forum, and B2B networking. The mission was organized by the Municipality of Westland, World Horti Center, and the Mayors’ Club of Ukraine, with the participation of UMEDA, Economy of Trust Ukraine, and other partner organizations.

The mission program covered several key areas:

  • Agriculture and greenhouse horticulture. Participants explored innovative cultivation technologies, modern greenhouse complexes, sustainable food production solutions, and the experience of Dutch agricultural companies.
  • International trade and investment. Presentations and business meetings focused on opportunities for Ukrainian companies to enter European markets, attract investment, and establish international partnerships.
  • Logistics and industrial infrastructure. Visits to agro-industrial companies and industrial parks provided participants with practical insights into approaches to production, storage, and product distribution.
  • Sustainable development and innovation. Particular attention was given to the efficient use of water and energy, the circular economy, and the implementation of environmentally friendly technologies.

Business Meetings and Exchange of Experience

An important part of the mission was a series of visits to Dutch companies and organizations, including World Trade Center Twente, Farmax, XL Businesspark, Tomatoworld, Raaskal Foodcreators & Development, and Delphy.

During meetings in the Twente region, representatives of the Ukrainian delegation learned more about the activities of local companies interested in cooperation with Ukraine. Opportunities for collaboration with regional development agencies, including Oost NL, were also discussed.

In Westland, participants visited Tomatoworld, where they were introduced to advanced greenhouse cultivation methods, sustainable production technologies, and practical solutions for food security. Visits to Raaskal Foodcreators & Development and Delphy demonstrated how innovation, research, food product development, and consulting services are combined within the agricultural sector.

Special attention was also given to presentations by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Ukraine Partnership Facility (UPF), during which mechanisms for supporting joint Ukrainian-Dutch projects were discussed.

The final day of the official program, April 26, was dedicated to the World Horti Center B2B Networking Day — a full day of B2B meetings and networking.

The day began with a seminar entitled “Dutch Government Instruments Facilitating Dutch-Ukrainian Partnerships.”

A presentation by RVO representative Sandra Kolodzinski provided a brief overview of the available government instruments relevant to Ukraine, including programs specifically focused on supporting cooperation with Ukraine, such as the UPF.

Kim Romeijn presented the Ukraine Partnership Facility (UPF), explaining what the program is, why it was established, its main objectives, and examples of projects and initiatives supported through the facility.

During a Q&A session, Agrico shared its experience of working with the UPF, including the company’s strategy, initial challenges, and valuable lessons learned throughout the process. Agrico also presented the specifics of its project, outlined its goals and scope, and explained how suitable project partners were identified.

Harry Kager explained how to use the platform effectively and how to identify Dutch-Ukrainian partners for the successful implementation of joint projects.

“The REBIRTH OF UKRAINE trade mission to the Netherlands became an important step toward strengthening Ukrainian-Dutch cooperation. For us, this was not simply a series of business meetings, but an opportunity to establish long-term partnerships, find reliable partners, attract investment, and open up new opportunities for the recovery of the Ukrainian economy,” said Yuliia Chufistova, Member of the Presidium of the Mayors’ Club of Ukraine.

Significance of the Mission for Ukrainian Business

The “REBIRTH OF UKRAINE – WESTLAND 2024” trade mission served as a platform for establishing direct contacts between Ukrainian entrepreneurs, international companies, representatives of local authorities, and business support institutions.
